ROBERT BUSSEY

Guitar: Acoustic, Electric, Bass

The self professed “Rock Guitarist with A Symphonic Flair”, Robert Bussey maintains a well rounded music career as a guitar educator at Charlotte Academy Of Music, the creative mastermind behind his "Attic Symphony" project and an entertainer / performer, having recently wrapped up a year and a half with the Journey Tribute band "Trial By Fire." At Charlotte Academy Of Music, Robert teaches Acoustic, Classical, Electric, and Bass Guitar lessons as well as Music Theory in a variety of styles including Rock, Metal, Blues, Acoustic Fingerstyle, Country and Classical. One of the more engaging aspects of his teaching approach is the inclusion of music trivia and history so that young aspiring students learn who the “greats” are, and therefore become aware of the deep well of musical inspiration and appreciation they have to draw from.  As a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Robert’s students have the opportunity to participate in the annual National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Music Festival, as well as Academy Concerts.

A guitarist since age 11 and instructor since 1991, Robert’s approach to teaching stems from a life-long love of music. He takes great pride in seeing each student develop their own talent, confidence and mastery of the guitar. Whether it's personal enjoyment or a music profession that you have in mind, Robert can assist you in discovering your own musical niche, thus setting you on a course of musical adventure and discovery. He still considers himself to be a student of the guitar and continues to broaden his own musical horizons and challenging himself to improve.

Some of his current crop of favorite guitarists include Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, David Gilmour, Kiko Loureiro and Michael Romeo. His third Attic Symphony album entitled "Attic Symphony III - The Moonlit Attic" is slated for a Fall 2011 release, with plans for a live concert theatrical production of " The Moonlit Attic"sometime in 2012.

Our 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son have been taking guitar lessons from Robert for about 2 years now. We are so impressed with what they have learned and accomplished since they first began. Robert is a great musician and knows his guitars, but being able to share that with children takes a special gift. Robert definitely has that gift. He was able to see the potential in our kids and challenge them at a level that fit each of them. He provides a lot of guidance, patience, and praise during his lessons. They have a great time, and they truly look forward to their lesson with him every week. Thank you, Robert, for sharing your wonderful gift with them. We are looking forward to what they will learn in the new year!

Robert has been my guitar teacher for several years now. I first met him when my oldest son wanted to take bass lessons. After a little while I decided I wanted to improve my guitar playing and discussed my goals with Robert. He started teaching me from the Berklee series of books and with some dedication and practice, I found myself reading music. I gained the confidence to begin playing in a praise worship band for the children's service at church and even played solo acoustic guitar for our hispanic worship service. Over time, my musical goals have changed and I'm now focused on jazz. Robert has proven himself to be knowledgeable, flexible, reliable, and patient. He's a great musician too! I would and have recommended him to people I know.
